10 largest car parts wholesalers in Poland

The wholesale market of parts for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in 2013.

The Polish market is definitely heavily influenced by Inter Cars. This dominance of one leader is the distinctive feature of Poland in comparison to the aftermarket in other European countries. Annual income of Inter Cars exceeds several times the revenue of its competitors. In 2014 it should reach 950 million Euro, which is a consequence of growth based on the improving internal logistics of the wholesaler. According to the statements of the representatives of Inter Cars, the objective of the company is to quickly cross the barrier of the annual revenue of 1 billion Euro and to achieve 1.4 billion Euro in 2020.

The other leading Polish wholesalers represent close to each other’s level of revenue and each of them has the ambition to increase it. For example, Groupauto Poland expects to achieve a revenue of 280 million Euro at the end of 2014 and recently announced a partnership with The Gordon Company.

It is worth noting the systemic bankruptcy of Fota SA. This occurrence not only resulted in the change of order of the wholesalers, but also had a direct impact on the level of margins, and particularly for customer’s discounts. Additionally, in the past several months, existing customers of Fota were looking for new sources of goods to meet their needs. It seems however, that the air has been cleared, and now the reflection phase will come, which – for each wholesaler – is an opportunity to increase revenue. This is also as well for Fota, which may soon be in new hands.

The total increase of the Polish market for the wholesale of spare parts for passenger cars and commercial vehicles averaged slightly less than 5 percent annually in the recent years. In the near future we can expect a slight reduction in the growth rate, but it will not be any dramatic occurrence.

The development of the Polish market is the consequence of increasing amounts of cars, which is confirmed by a rise in the number of first registrations in the 2013 and 2014 year. Yet, we cannot forget about external factors that stall the development such as conflict in Ukraine.
